((My first rp here. Yay! Sorry if it's not the best, but I'm never good at making first posts. Anyone can join since I need to get to know people. I'm not sure who would be just hanging around the Spine though. ))
Joanna walked rather slowly through the tall trees, unsure of where exactly to go or even where she was. She knew only that she was somewhere in the Spine, deep into it by the thickness of trees and undergrowth. She cursed to herself. How had she even gotten so lost? Luckily she had found a trail created by animals. But was she headed deeper it to the Spine or out of it?
She stopped and sighed, taking a moment to scan the area. All the trees looked the same. She might have been going in circles for hours. That rock does look somewhat familiar, she thought. It was no use. She wasn't going to get out of here easily.
Joanna took a seat on a large root, resting her feet. When she had started traveling, she had known the stories about the Spine. It had been the very fact of danger that had drawn her there in the first place. So far she had not run into anything that she would not find in any other forest. Was getting hopelessly lost the only danger of the Spine?
As if on cue, a twig snapped behind her and she jumped. She reached back and grabbed her bow as she whorled around to see what had made the sound. But nothing emerged from the undergrowth. Joanna scolded herself for acting so cowardly, but she did not lower her guard. The Spine might still live up to its reputation.

OOC: It's good too, we need some new thread to go around. Get things going before summer kicks off.
Curses and blunders! Jacobla thought. He forgot how long he had been following the girl but it was the first time he made such a mistake. He did what he always did though and continued out from the brush along the path. "Good afternoon." he said as he passed the girl. He walked passed nonchalantly as though nothing out of the ordinary had happened. He was close enough to a hiding spot that he hoped he could continue to avoid her.

"Who what where now?"
Joanna paused as the man passed by. It was rather odd. She was in the middle of the spine and this guy just passed by her as if they were strolling down some country road. He acted like nothing was wrong with just walking around the spine. She stood up and started to follow the man, maybe he, in all his weirdness, knew a way out of this god-forsaken place. She caught up to him quickly, and started walking next to him.
She had no idea what to say at first and found herself walking silently with him for a few moments. Would this guy think her strange for that?
"Um....Where did you come from?" she asked finally. She wasn't very good at talking to people. "I mean I was walking around for a while and I never...."

Zephyr crouched in the middle of the clearing, hands reverantly placed, palm out, on the large tree that was planted there. Although it was far out of the way she often took the time to pass by here. Sometimes, if she closed her eyes she could still see them...her parents, though the memory was faded with time.
She rose from the ground and looked at the tree that marked the place where she fought the Urgals so long ago. It was large, even by Du WeldenVarden standards, and towered over most of the other trees in the Spine. She had planted and nourtured it herself, as a tortured reminder of her past. Shifting her bow she turned and set off through the trees, traveling quite a distance before the sound of voices caught her ears. Easily readying her bow she moved towards them, keeping alert. After a few moments she picked up some of the conversation.

Jacobla walked silently with the girl and continued to try to seem as though he was just walking. There were a few awkward minutes where they walked together and he passed his hiding place. It would have seemed strange for him to just duck off into the forest, no less strange than the girl was but risky all the same. "Me? You know, I was just, back there... Just walkin'." he said. He looked around hurriedly to try to orient himself to where he was at. "Just enjoying the summer air and the free lands and all. Yep." There was another, painfully, awkward silence which was broken by words of a strange tongue. He stopped and looked around again, hand near his dagger. He hoped that the woman was armed too. He knew too well about the bandits that roamed the Spine, him included. "Say what fellow traveler?" he called back, not sure where the voice had came from.

Joanna raised and eyebrow. Who in their right mind would believe that? No one would just be walking around the Spine, except herself which was a different story all together. The man was acting odd, like he was hiding something. Joanna opened her mouth to say something to the man, but was cut off by the call of someone else. She didn't know the language the girl was speaking in, and paused next to the strange man. She reached back and pulled out her bow, closing her bad eye. She stopped her hand half-way to grabbing an arrow. She paused and waited, but was all to impatient. She wouldn't let the other strike first without getting a word in.
"Who are you? And why are you hiding like a coward?" she cried out to whoever was waiting out there. "Answer, and in a language we can understand!"

Zephyr tightened the grip on her bow and moved foward, keeping the two in her sights as she entered the small clearing. She looked between the two carefully, deciding which of the two was most likely a threat. She lightened the grip on her bow ever so slightly and addressed them. When she spoke, her voice was slightly lilting, although strangely rough from the common she was speaking.
"I am Zephyr...That is all you need to know." She moved to the center, keeping her bow trained on the female. "Who do you side with, humans?"

Joanna looked at the elf for a moment. Yet another strange person. Was she just taking a walk too? Or was she just waiting to jump out at the first person who walked by? Either way, Joanna was starting to get annoyed with this. She hadn't wanted to run into a bunch of odd people. She had wanted to run into some sort of monster or something. If she had wanted to talk to freaks, she would have just stayed in the city. And what did she mean by side? Something to do with the whole Empire verses Varden thing?
"I side with no one but myself," she said, placing her hand on the top of an arrow, just in case. The elf was pointing her weapon at her after all. What was up with that?

Selene hated the spine but she knew that in order for training herself she had to get through the whole thing. her dragon Aquarius was some where near by but was hunting so that would mean, really to her, no help. She heard something and approached quietly and before she got in site of anyone climbed a tree to get a better view of the people below. Selene went branch to branch to the closest one near the clearing. She saw some thing like people but who could it be let alone in the spine. Selene dared to jump down and edge near them but she knew that she couldn't get to near by the looks of it the people to her seemed steamed. Selene's sword was at her side and her long blue hair covered her ears which suited her, for now, and she approached slowly.
"Whats all the commotion about, i am not trying to be rude or anything I was just happening to be passing through when I heard something and sought to find out who or what made it. I am Selene by the way." said Selene.

Jacobla was accostomed to catastrophic failures when it came to him stalking potential targets. He look to the elf while the girl explained her cause trying to extract some sort of motive other than raw paranoia but it seemed little more. He had no chance to speak himself though when another entered near the path. Two extra, four extra, ten extra. It was all the same to him. "I mean no quarrel, just walking and attending to what buisness I can out here. I have no alliance other than that of my trade, a simple merchant. Balojac you can call me. I buy and sell fine jewelry and antiques." If he couldn't get any stealing done he figured he might as well attend to his fake job and sell some stolen items.

Selene was silent for a while after speaking because she knew the rules which she was accustum to but she also was taught the meaning of being patient with people except for Shades of course. Selene didn't want to say anything else for fear of something going terribly wrong which of course her dragon wouldn't allow anyway. Selene just stood there watching for the time being.
